ON-LINE AGENDA TOOL WITH YOUR ABC LOG-IN

Find speakers, explore sessions, make notes, and plan your schedule.  By conference time, you can access files uploaded by the moderators of How Do You Teach Diversity? and My Favorite Assignment.

  1. Log in to ABC.
  2. Go to My Options (near your name.)
  3. Click My Profile.
  4. Click Transactions.  From your Detroit transaction, click Registration
  5. From the blue bar, click SESSIONS.  Search by track or speaker.

NOTE: Up to four presentations are scheduled during same time in the same room.  For speaker order, follow the order shown in the printed conference program.  The program also indicates the amount of scheduled time per presentation.

We hope you explore this great tool from ABC for registered attendees.  This feature is part of our ABC system, so after the conference, registered attendees can continue to access the information.  Files can be uploaded/updated until January.  (After the conference, we will send you file uploading steps in case you want to share handouts to your own submission.)

KNOW-BEFORE-YOU-GO

Weather and Things to Pack
Bring fliers, brochures, job announcements, journals, books, and other things to share with members for the Member Networking Table.  Your own acrylic stand or frame makes for a nice display.

Bring an item for the silent auction to benefit graduate student travel grants to our conference.

Bring a thumb drive with your presentation. A FedEx Office Print and Ship Center is near the hotel for coping and printing. Contact the hotel desk for small printing needs.

Temperatures should be mid-50s Fahrenheit (10 Celsius) during the day and nighttime lows in the low 40s Fahrenheit (4.5 Celsius). Wind off the lake will make it feel even cooler. Bring a warm jacket.

Bring an umbrella, comfortable walking shoes, and clothes that you can layer for walking about the city and for the excursions. There are still seats available on the Henry Ford Museum excursion on Saturday. Please remember medications, extra glasses or other necessities.

Travel To/From Detroit
From the Detroit Metro Airport, the FAST bus #261 ($2) (accessible) takes about one hour to a stop across from hotel.  Other approximate fares: Uber or Lyft $35; Metro Cars $69; taxis $50. Confirm fares before riding. Amtrak from Chicago is easy. In Detroit, jump on Q-line to Campus Martius (near hotel.)

Visit Detroit has information on local attractions and events. As in any large city, we recommend walking  with friends and being aware of your surroundings. With stops near our hotel, use People Mover or the Q-line (both wheelchair accessible) to reach fun pubs, restaurants, shops and attractions. Here is a map of the hotel vicinity.

Visiting Canada?
The Tunnel Bus ($10 roundtrip) goes to Windsor, Canada, across the river from Detroit. Bring a valid passport (and visa, if appropriate). See Visit Windsor for attractions and events. Border wait-time varies. The tunnel will be closed Thursday, Oct 24.
