Job Description

The UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking to fill a full-time, fixed-term, renewable faculty position for the Management and Corporate Communication area starting July 1, 2018. The teaching responsibility is a standard 3-3 or equivalent. The successful candidate will be a creative and effective teacher. Our area is 19 years old and includes 8 full-time Management Communication faculty members who teach core and elective courses in the Undergraduate, Master of Accounting, MBA, Executive MBA, and PhD programs. Our area also includes a writing and speaking center that serves all programs in the business school; it is staffed by a full-time center director and 8-12 MBA consultants.

Academic Qualifications

This position requires a Master’s or PhD in Rhetoric, English, Communication Studies, Professional Communication, or related field. Hired candidates with a doctorate can anticipate an initial appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor. Hired candidates with a doctorate nearly completed can anticipate an initial appointment of Clinical Instructor. Hired candidates with a Master’s degree completed can anticipate an appointment of Clinical Instructor. UNC Kenan-Flagler has a promotional track for clinical faculty members.

Experience Requirements

Candidates with university-level teaching experience in both business writing and speaking are preferred. Other helpful skills include the following: general business knowledge, technical communication skills, and experience teaching international students.
