Job Description

The Information Systems Department at Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business is accepting applications for a Clinical faculty position (non-tenure track) in Business Communications. Job responsibilities for this position will commence in August 2019 at the starting rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The primary focus of this position will be on teaching foundational concepts in business communications to undergraduate business students. 

The curriculum focuses on effective written communication styles and strategic approaches to letters, memoranda, reports, and other workplace-related documents. It also emphasizes critical concepts in oral communications in a business context. While the ability to publish research is highly desirable and promoted, the primary mission of this position is to teach.

The typical teaching load will be 4 courses in the fall semester, 3 courses in the spring, with summer teaching possible but not guaranteed. In addition to fulfilling these teaching responsibilities, applicants will be expected to maintain their professional qualifications through some combination of ongoing professional development, consulting experience, or research activity. The Information Systems Department supports faculty development and research activities through funding travel to both academic and professional conferences as well as through a variety of other ways.

Academic Qualifications

Qualified applicants should possess either a master's degree or a PhD in management/business communications or a related discipline and should demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence in one or more of these areas. Further, applicants should have the ability to collaborate effectively with other faculty in a dynamic team-oriented educational environment. While research is not the primary mission of this position, preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of research or research promise.
