Final Call for Nominations - Special Association Awards & At-Large Board Members

Dear ABC members,

The Nominating Committee invites you to nominate candidates for two at-large seats on the Association’s Board of Directors and for the five special Association awards specified in the bylaws. Please submit your nominations to me byMonday, September 14. Board members and committee chairs are especially encouraged to submit nominations.

Nominees for At-Large Board Seats
Any ABC member may run for an at-large Board seat, and self-nominations are welcome. From the pool of nominated candidates, the Nominating Committee will generate a slate of nominees. We are seeking at least two nominees for each seat. The election will be held this coming spring (2016), with the winners taking office at the close of the 2016 annual conference.

At-large Board members, like the other Board members, serve four-year terms, and they can run for re-election. Their primary role is to help shape the future of the Association by attending the annual Board meeting and participating in whatever other business comes up during the year. The full description of the Board members’ duties is here: http://www.businesscommunication.org/page/operational-guidelines-030.

Nominees for Association Awards
In response to a proposal from the Nominating Committee, the Board of Directors selects the recipients of the following special awards, which are announced during the Presidential Luncheon at the annual conference:
--Fellow of the Association (see http://www.businesscommunication.org/page/fellow)
--Bernadine P. Branchaw Spirit of ABC Award (see http://www.businesscommunication.org/page/branchaw)
--Distinguished Member Award  (see http://www.businesscommunication.org/page/distinguished-member )
--Francis W. Weeks Award of Merit (see http://www.businesscommunication.org/page/weeks)

Occasionally, the Association may give an Honorary Member Award. No criteria for this award appear in the bylaws, in the operational guidelines, or on the ABC website, but if you believe someone who is not a member of ABC deserves special recognition because of his/her contributions to and support of the field of business communication, you may nominate that person.

With each nomination, please include a short summary of the candidate’s qualifications and, if possible, a link to his/her CV on the Web.

Many thanks for your help with this important task.

Sincerely,

Kathy Rentz
Past President
Chair, ABC Nominating Committee
