Invitation to Virtual Discussion about ChatGPT

With ChatGPT dominating headlines and discussion among our business communication colleagues these days, we’re eager to hear your thoughts and facilitate an informal “Chat about ChatGPT” on Friday, February 10 at 11 a.m central/noon eastern.

Facilitating this discussion are the following presenters: Abram Anders (Iowa State University), Lance Cummings (University of North Carolina Wilmington), Christy McDowell (Cornell), Amy Newman (Cornell), and Rita Owens (Boston College).

Here are just some of the topics we’ll cover:

  • Large language models and the potential implications for business communication classes
  • Adding syllabus or assignment language about ChatGPT that you’re willing to share with others
  • Using ChatGPT in assignments and other exercises (to avoid plagiarism and/or to support and improve student writing)
  • Using ChatGPT for writing lesson plans, grading, and other faculty support
  • Facilitating conversations among faculty within your schools; implications for industry professionals
