A minimum of two years of teaching experience (graduate student teaching experience accepted) in areas such as writing in the professions, writing across the curriculum, technical writing, and/or business communication.
Defined research interest/agenda in some aspect of professional writing
Some curriculum development experience

Description of Responsibilities (all teaching assignments are at the undergraduate level)

  • Teach a 4-4 course load (release time for research possible) with expectations for service to the department, college, and university.
  • Teach an upper-level course each semester, “Writing for Engineers,” and act as a liaison to the School of Engineering including participation in ABET accreditation and consulting with senior design students.
  • Teach courses in technical writing and/or business communication.
  • Teach undergraduate courses in the department’s writing concentration and potentially develop new special topics courses as needed based on interests.
  • Participate in curriculum development and assessment.
