A city known for action in a wide variety of industries, Long Beach inspires us to think about enacting change and encouraging innovation in our business communication research, teaching, and consulting. Long Beach is the second busiest port in the United States and historically has been an exceptionally dynamic location, adapting to many identities: port city, seaside resort, Hollywood outpost, and oil boomtown. As business communication professionals, we are often asked to be rhetorically flexible and make connections between disparate audiences and contexts. Like the conveyance of imports and exports at the waterfront, we will convey our communication cargo from ABC to the world. We encourage ABC proposals that envision transformative ideas for furthering the field of business communication.
