The Graduate School of Business and Public Policy (GSBPP) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in Managerial Communication starting October 2017. Rank is open.
NPS provides graduate education to military officers of the uniformed services, Department of Defense civilians, and members of the international defense community. NPS highly values both research and instruction. Primary teaching responsibilities include a required, core graduate-level Managerial Communication course for experienced managers. NPS follows a quarter system and the normal teaching workload for faculty is four courses a year. Faculty are also expected to serve as advisors on MBA application projects and theses.
NPS is located on the coast in Monterey, California, about 120 miles south of San Francisco. The Graduate School of Business and Public Policy has over 70 full-time faculty. The school’s graduate programs—MBA, EMBA, and Masters of Science in Management--are accredited by AACSB, NASPAA, or both.
•A Ph.D. (or its equivalent) in Communication or a communication-related field (e.g., Business Administration, Psychology, Management) – doctorate must be from a regionally accredited university
•Strong program of research in Communication, with research accomplishments commensurate with the length of applicant’s professional experience
•Previous experience teaching managerial, organizational, business, or professional communication
•Demonstrated teaching aptitude
•Must be able to complete and successfully pass a security background investigation
•Experience teaching Organization Behavior or Strategic Management preferred, but not required
•Experience teaching distance learning courses preferred
•Experience teaching graduate students or mid-level managers preferred
•Managerial or consulting experience in public sector or private sector organizations is desirable
•Although US Citizenship is not a requirement, it is considered in the hiring process
