Facilities Communication & Public Engagement Manager

The Facilities Communication & Public Engagement Manager develops a comprehensive public engagement and communications program through which the community, parents and staff are engaged as appropriate in facilities planning and design. The Facilities Communication & Public Engagement Manager keeps these audiences informed of progress in building and other facilities projects.
Essential job functions:
Develops and implements a comprehensive facilities communications program to inform the community of all efforts concerning school construction and facilities projects funded by levy and/or bond funds.
Develops public engagement processes in conjunction with the facilities staff to engage community members, parents and staff in project design and development, and carries out those public engagement processes. That includes planning and executing public meetings, marketing the meetings, developing agendas, coordinating with subject matter experts needed for the event, ensuring the meetings run smoothly and reporting back to the community the results of the meetings.
Works closely with the Director of Support Services and associated staff.
Develops user-friendly content for various internal stakeholders in the facility programming and project process.
Develops user-friendly content related to facilities programs for external audiences and distributes it via district media, including newsletters, websites, social media and video.
Creates facility project case studies to highlight process or effectiveness/efficiency.
Translates facility metrics into metrics and infographics that are easily understood.
Develops an understanding of the facilities organization including scope of responsibility, community connection and planned business rhythms.
Builds relationships with key facility team members and creates communication strategies that manage risks, showcase work processes and outcomes.
Develops a facilities communication calendar that aligns with program and project schedules.
Ensures content placement in district editorial & social media calendars.
Establishes and maintains positive relationships with neighborhood groups, jurisdiction staff and media.
Monitors jurisdiction planning and development for impacts on school facilities.
Provides media support for facilities program as needed.
Ensures compliance with privacy laws when involving students in media coverage.
Responds to information requests from the parents, the community and media.
Attends meetings to receive and/or convey information.
Models appropriate behavior for staff and the public.
Follows LWSD policies, procedures and protocols.
Reports to the Director of Communications.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or similar field.
Five or more years of experience in communications, public relations and/or public engagement.
