On occasion, we find conferences offered by other organizations that may be of interest to our members. We share those conferences below.

Linguistic Insights: Studies in Language and Communication

 

Following our Antwerp convention, we promised that we would be in touch about a joint publication. We are happy to announce that we are now preparing one or two volumes in the Peter Lang series Linguistic Insights: Studies in Language and Communication. We are aiming at original research based papers on the following themes:

- written communication
- oral communication
- online interaction and new media
- business genres
- corporate and institutional communication
- intercultural communication.

Papers should contain a brief literature review, sections on methodology, data and results, and a conclusion/discussion section. Papers should not exceed 6000 words (including references) and follow the guidelines of the style sheet that we have provided. We strongly encourage you to have a native speaker of English review your paper.

Timing/deadlines:

At your earliest convenience and before September 1st, 2010: you inform the editors that you are planning to submit your paper

October 1st, 2010: you submit your paper

December 15th, 2010: you receive feedback and comments for revisions

February 1st, 2011: you submit the final manuscript

February 15th, 2011: you receive the editors' final decision

Proposed publication date: Spring 2011

Cuadernos: Special Issue on Corporate Communication

The next issue of Cuadernos (Jul.-Dec. 2010). will include a dossier related to Corporate Communication.

Authors and researchers working in topics like Stakeholders Management, Corporate Reputation, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Identity and Brands Communications are welcome to submit their papers.

 

 

Association of Business Communication at
Modern Language Association

The Association for Business Communication seeks proposals for 20-minute presentations at the 2011 Modern Language Association Convention in Los Angeles, CA: January 6-9, 2011.

The quality of visuals—which are often included in business writing—enhances the retention of data. The ABC seeks panel session proposals exploring strategies for teaching the effective integration of visuals into modern business writing.

Interdisciplinary perspectives such as international business and language barriers, business writing and pedagogy, and technology and business presentations are welcomed.

500 word abstracts, a one-page CV, and all contact information should be emailed no later than March 27, 2010, to Mahli Xuan Mechenbier.
