Kitty O. Locker Outstanding Researcher Award

Purpose
The Outstanding Researcher Award encourages excellence in business communication research. It honors a scholar who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the business communication discipline. The recipient will be honored at the ABC annual convention with a plaque and a check. The award is sponsored by McGraw-Hill Irwin.

Selection Criteria

1. Overall contribution of the researcher’s cumulative publications in refereed journals and scholarly books
2. Significance of the research to the field
3. Overall quality of the research
4. Heuristic value of the research
Nomination Procedures

Nominations should consist of a letter describing the scholar's research and showing how the research meets the award criteria; copies of three published works (selections if from a book); abstracts of two or three other major publications; and a detailed resume.

Nominators should send letter and supporting materials by June 1 to Cynthia Ryan, Department of English, University of Alabama at Birmingham, HB 217, 1530 3rd Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35294-1260 (cynryan@uab.edu).

ABC Research Committee members will independently review the credentials of each nominee. The recipient will receive a plaque and a cash reward.
