Roger is a Professor of Communication at the University of Texas at Tyler where he teaches courses in organizational communication. He holds bachelors and masters degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University and Ph.D. from Bowling Green State University. His current research interests include intercultural communication and organizational assessments. He recently received the ABC Southwestern United States 2002 Irwin-McGraw Hill Distinguished Paper Award in business communication for an analysis of Latin American business letters. He has published in the Business Communication Quarterly and authored a textbook on interviewing.

James M. Dubinsky is an Associate Professor of English and directs the Professional Writing Program at Virginia Tech. Jim is a recent winner of a college award for outreach excellence and the university’s teacher scholar award; his research focuses on professional writing pedagogy, service-learning, and community-university partnerships. He is the author/editor of Teaching Technical Communication, has contributed articles to journals such as the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning, and recently edited a special issue of Technical Communication Quarterly on civic engagement. He was also book review editor for BCQ for five years. Currently, Jim serves on the board for the YMCA at Virginia Tech and is co-chairing a university task force on student engagement.

Deborah Valentine , Second Vice President
Goizueta Business School, Emory University
Deborah Valentine is a member of the faculty in Management Communication at Goizueta Business School of Emory University. She teaches business communication, cross-cultural business communication, and business communication for internationals at Emory; she also manages Goizueta Business School's Business Writing Center.Deborah Valentine is the author of two books on cross-culturalcommunication. In addition to teaching, she also consults with corporations such as Coca-Cola, IBM, and BellSouth on issues relating to strategic management communication and leadership communication. Deborah has been a member of ABC since 1993 and has served as editor of the "Focus on Intercultural Communication" column of the Business Communication Quarterly and as chair of the Intercultural Communication Committee.

Betty Johnson, who assumed the role of ABC Executive Director of ABC in 2007, has been an active member and leader in ABC since 1978. Betty served eight years on the Board of Directors, including a term as President. She is recently stepped down as Chair of the Department of General Business at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nachogdoches, Texas, where she continues to teach business communication. Betty has authored a textbook on business communication, which is currently in its fifth edition, as well as more than forty book chapters, journal articles, and other professional publications. |

Dr Harrison is a Senior Lecturer in Communication Studies at AUT University, Auckland, New Zealand. Her doctoral research concerned the readability of public documents, including consumer legislation and voter information. She has completed two research projects for the NZ Inland Revenue Service to test readability of rewritten legislation, and has built up a writing consultancy focusing on audit and tax writing. She serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Business Communication.
